Detailed video information below, please read:

DEMONSTRATION: TC Electronic Nova Delay ND-1
SETTINGS: Tape Delay
ADDITIONAL PEDALS: Boss CE-5 + Boss RV-5
AMP: Mesa Boogie Tremoverb Head
CAB: Mesa Boogie Stereo Recto 2x12 with V30s
GUITAR: PRS Singlecut
SONG: 'Bad' by U2

This is a demonstration of the TC Electronics ND-1 Nova Delay pedal. I have the pedal set to a basic quarter note 'Tape' style delay. I am not trying to emulate The Edges tone on 'Bad' it was just the first song that came to mind at the time. He uses a stereo, dotted eighth, modulation style delay for this track (I couldnt be bothered hooking up another amp!).

I use a Boss CE-5 Chorus pedal set to a very subtle chorus in conjunction with a Boss RV-5 set to a 'Hall' Reverb to thicken the sound. All pedals are connected to my amps Effects Loop via a Gig Rig Pro 14 and Gig Rig Humdinger.

I am using a GigRig Pro 14 switching system to control my amps and effects. More info on this unit can be found at:

http://www.thegigrig.com/.

  • Hey Whats up??

Hey bro I was wondering if that pedal is able to combine efects... lets say triplets with a normal single delay? like if they were singles...

or its just one effect at the time...??

and if you cant combine them... does it have like combine delays already?

Hope you answer bro thanks :)

  • Yup you can combine delays with the Nova. There are set combinations on the pedal. I cant remember off hand which combos are preset

  • I've got a dl4 and hate tapping in the dotted 8th. Thinking about getting the Nova Delay but I've heard bad stuff about the reliability of TC's products. Would you recommend the nova delay and how long have you had it?

I can buy one used for $150 but if the pedal breaks, not worth it.

  • The Nova Delay has been great. I have a DL4 aswell it its much less reliable than the Nova. I have had 3 DL4 repairs and the Nova Delay is still the original without any issues. Its about 3-4 years old now I think

  • Not bad, but if you really want to nail the sound Use 2 digital delays with a heavy modulation effect, have one set to dotted eighth repeats, and the other, (with less feed back and modulation) set to eighth note delay. Then you get a staggered sound between your delays. Also, it wouldn't hurt to add a few more repeats. Still nice take though.

  • It was never meant to be a U2 cover video. Someone asked me to demo the Nova Delay and Bad was the first tune that jumped to mind. I've got pretty close to the Edge sound using 3 delay pedals and two amps. But two much hassle running two parallel amps. I use two very different amps in my live rig

  • How many user presets are there & how many effects can be saved to each one?

  • Hi craig. Would you recommend me to use 2 delay pedals at the same time to get a nice u2 tone? I already have the nova repeater, so i could get a nova delay aswell i think.

  • nice sound

  • @craigmcarthur1 Fair enough, and I really dig your stuff. i've just spent a bit of time trying to nail the unforgettable fire/Joshua tree tone, but you seem to be much more of a gear-head than I.
