The English Orange Order parades through Carlisle city centre to be greeted by thousands of onlookers. This parade was held by the Grand Orange Lodge of England and attracted English Orange Lodges from across England, plus several Orange Lodges and marching bands travelled down from Scotland to take part in the Orange parade.

The procession left Bitts Park and headed along Dacre Road, under the Castle Way subway into West Tower Street and along Scotch Street with a wreath laying ceremony at the Carlisle War Memorial before returning to Bitts Park where the parade was closed by the traditional playing of the National Anthem.

Carlisle used to have many of its own Orange Lodges over the last 200 years. The last Orange Parade in Carlisle was in 1979. Many of the Orangemen fought in the Wars with their names inscribed on Carlisle War Memorial. Are you from Carlisle and interested in joining the English Orange Order? If so, please send me a message and I can pass your details onto the local lodge.

The Orange Order is a loyal fraternal Christian organisation that is based on the bible and the reformed faith.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Orange Order anywhere else in England, please send me a message with your contact details and I can pass them on to local lodges. http://www.manchesterorange.co.uk

  • It is great to see that the Orange Order in England is enjoying a revival. I know that a number of new Orange Lodges have opened within the last year with many new members joining in existing Orange Lodges around England.

I believe that this is down to English Protestant people realizing that they want to celebrate their religion, their heritage, their country and show loyalty to the Crown.

Join the Orange Order in England and join the worldwide family of Orangeism.

  • @oz1641 - I know its ages ago this but........ as someone that walked at the back of a large lodge once, sometimes the band behind dictates the step. Liverpool has an obsession with CRAMMING the parade together and it shows in this video, so it's sometimes difficult to get everyone in time. I know what you mean though
