  • i dont understand, did you already have the music on the hdd? the the arm just read it and produced it to a coil that made sound waves? then you amplified it with a tin can, is that correct?

  • No the hard drives were completly destroyed and had no info on their platters. I just used the coil on the read/write arm to act like a speaker. I had two wires connected and ran them to the output on my stereo. And yes, I used a can to amplify one of thne hard drives (It was the bass hd)

  • how did you wire then up?

  • Well, The way I did it was i found the little metal pins that connect to to the actual circuit bord on the hard drive. There are like 10 pins on it and i needed to find the 2 pins that connected to the electro magnet (wound coils on read/write arm). Once I did that they acted just like normal voice coils on a speaker.

  • lol so umm, how does hard drive vibrate ? O_o;;, still pretty cool dunno what it is though haha ill go watch ur previous movie :P looks tonsa fun

  • All hard drives (atleast the newer ones) Have An electro magnet that moves the read/write arm across the platters. It is made out of copper wire coiled up and wound very tightly around the plastic piece connected to the arm under the magnets. The Coils Function the same as a voice coil as a normal speaker creating sound.
