There is somthing comforting abou this piece of music, but a sad element is present too. I see it as being the sorrow that accompanies of the end of the world, because everything is gone, and life here hardly seems worth living. There is no turning back now, not for Shinji, not for anyone. But I also think that it is vaguely soothing too, for the reason that even though the world has changed, third impact and instrumentality are over, and the world is peaceful and calm.
