Miles wrote this song as a gift for Cannonball Adderly to be recorded on his first album with Riverside Records.

@Bulerias2005 Well, the list of composers above is true, but it is also true that a few decades ago people would write the tunes under someone else's names, due to label restrictions, and so Miles copyrighted many tunes under his name (and he also said so in several interviews). But Miles had problems with musicians and later on he started putting songs under Cleo Henry's name (his mother)
This is a B. Galbraith tune, but people mistake it as Mile's because of its appearance on several books.

The title Nardis supposedly comes from a situation where BIll and Miles were ina club and someone asked them to play a tune with Bill replying something along the lines, "I don' play that shit I'm an Artist ."
SO miles supposedly wrote Nardis for BIll.
Anyhow great rendition. Hats of to the players.

I've heard all of those stories except Nardis being written by Barry... if anything, I've heard rumors that Bill Evans wrote it. There's quite a bit of controversy surrounding Blue in Green, as well, yes...
I remember an interview with Bill Evans when he was asked about a few tunes attributed to Miles but thought to be written by him... he admitted that Blue in Green was mostly his, but denied that anyone else was involved with Nardis.

I admit, though, it is strange that Miles never actually recorded Nardis...
