If Satan tried to deceive Joshua with scripture (Matthew 4:6), then you can count on him trying to deceive us too. One of his greatest lies is to use John 3:16 to deceive the whole world into thinking that God has affection for everyone (ie. is friends with everyone).
This cannot be true, because God hates workers of iniquity (Psa 5:5), and they cannot make up for the works of iniquity they refuse to repent of by doing good works (Mat 7:21-23). The good news is that God is still willing to help ALL, including His enemies, come to repentance (2Pe 3:9).
The command "love your enemy" (Mat 5:44) is similar. It does not mean, "be friends with your enemy." To do that would be to condone your enemy's sin. It instead means to help your enemy. God helps His enemies by giving them an opportunity to be forgiven of works of iniquity that they confess and stop repeating.
This video presents the famous John 3:16 verse in an expanded context (similar to the "Amplified Bible") in order to reduce the likelihood of being deceived with a false conclusion.
