As an Iraqi, the "liberal" guy is absolutely right. Government in the middle east is corrupt. Its not just because of religion. Ruling dictatorships pass their power down to their own family like former European monarchies. And they hold elections for show because in reality the elections do not mean shit. theyre not democracies in any way

he English here have a custom. At Christmas they eat what they call turkey. Imagine, they call it turkey and serve it as food at the table. This shows the kind of hatred that is deeply rooted in the west they serve the Turkish Ottoman Muslim man as food on the table, for entertainment and as a sign that they have slaughtered him.

There is a direct connection between the lack of education nowadays and islamic oppression. It reminds me of former Ethiopian king Haile Selassie who noticed that protests only ever came out of the south originating from the well fed students whereas the hungry people in the north were always too occupied with their daily struggle to survive! If only he had made sure that the ungrateful students had died of starvation too he still would be in power.

But the reality the Egyptian intellectual is describing is really sad, like the state of education. The average literacy rate is around 35-38% and in rural areas in Muslim countries, the illiteracy rate among Muslim women is 93 to 97%. Today Muslims contributions to science and technology is marginal, their share of Nobel Prizes is close to none. The ones in power keep their people uneducated so their regime will never be challenged. But Islamic civilization belonged once to the most advanced.
