"On January 15, 2008, the Australian Federal Court ruled that the Japanese whaling company is in breach of Australian law when it kills whales in the Australian Whale Sanctuary and ordered that the hunt be stopped. The ruling confirms that the hunt is illegal. Still, the Japanese whaling fleet returned to kill whales in the Australian sanctuary this season, and it was this whale hunt that the Sea Shepherd was attempting to stop."
What the Japanese whaling fleet is doing is ILLEGAL.

Many species of whales were on the brink of extinction not 20 yrs ago. Their reproductive rate is very slow. A whale calf is in the womb for 2 yrs before birth. After birth the calf remains with it's mother for several years before going out on it's own. A female may have only 2-3 calfs in her lifetime. Their numbers are still very low when matched with historic figures. These numbers can not support whaling, even on a limited scale, 500-1,000 kills per year. All whaling needs to stop, now.
