I am into free open source software. But you dont have to send out for a disc and wait a month to get it. I just downloaded and burned my own CD of ubuntu just three hours ago... it took me all but ten minutes.

Yes, just follow the directions very carefully when installing Linux,and you can keep Windows Vista, and it will make a new partition in your unused hard drive space for Linux (Ubuntu) to install to..
