I am a big William Smith fan and I like Rod Taylor, both men have always appeared fit for their films, but many are lover looking these two men are also great actors, you do not see that combination often. William Smith was the proof back in the 70's a weight lifter could also study Karate, many thought they could not be combined, I have done both now for 36 years, William Smith like Steve Reeves put many young men on the path of fitness for life.

@zaneskater With respect, I just can't believe that. First off, they were professional actors. They may have each been filming several different movies / shows at one time, so getting all cut and beat and injured just isn't feasible. Plus, they're getting paid big money. To have them fight away would jeopardize the entire film...I just think it's hype. And if it is hype....look at how long it has stayed alive....several decades!

@hardcorehouse Hard for me to believe that they really were "fighting for real". My guess is that there were several stop takes during the filming. On the other hand, I know just from screwing around fighting with my old buddies that it doesn't take too many wayward face shots to get somebody pissed off enough to ramp it up a lot. Maybe that's what's happened here. But the "real fighting" manta seems like ticket selling hype to me. I wasn't there.

Part 2 from Joel: Anyhow, he pulled behind her, got out and took the gas nozzle from her and poured fuel all over her car and lit it. Nobody got hurt. He was arrested. I ALWAYS felt that I hurt his brain somehow with that hit I gave him in '73. In fact, I just knew it. I carried it a long long time. Yrs. later, I ran into his old girlfriend. She told me that no, he'd been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and was on and off again with his meds. He's gone now...RIP Jason.

@WickedTornado He had blood coming out his ear because he went down on that side of his head into the desert sand and evidently something like sand or a small cactus or stick scraped him. Why did I hit him on grad nite? One word: Alcohol. It was my fault. I egged him on. This was in '73. About 10yrs later I read a news report in the paper. A woman in traffic had cut him off unintentionally. He follow her to a gas station, where she began fueling her car. (See part 2 from Joel)

@WickedTornado : Why would you want to punch some guy at your grad night? I hope it wasn't to impress some bimbo. If the guy had blood coming out of his ear he had a cerebral hemorrhage, and would have required swift ER attention.

@joe80dman I hit a guy like that on my graduation nite of high school back in '73. It was one of those "john wayne-type" hits and sounded just the same. The guy went down on his knees.....then buckled and fell flat on his face. We turned him over, he had blood coming out of an ear, nose and mouth. He did not move for about 5 mins. I literally have never prayed so hard and fervently since then. I thought I had killed him. I KNEW my life was completely over. I've never been so scared. He was ok.

If anyone had their mug slammed like Robert Taylor's they'd be dead. Then he jumps up, and way-lays Wm. Smith w/ a 2x4 in the legs? C'mon!

I remember this flick now! Anyone that could toss guys around like Smith did here would have to be invincible. Lot of bloody scenes in this one.

this guy smith and bronson were great. Rod Taylor also

LOL, what the fuck?! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
Would love to see a clear version of this - Looks like a straight up decent fight to watch without being ridiculously old-style corn, especially considering it's a 70's movie!

No doubt about it. One of the great fist fights of movie history. I remember the first time I saw it at the cinema; I thought that William Smith's character was virtually unstoppable !!

Yeah, at the Lyric Theatre here in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, when it was first released to Cinemas. I suppose I suffer from old age.....It was great on the big screen, and I can tell you that it was the uncut version that was shown at the theatre....I also remember watching the first showing of "Dirty Harry" around this period of time.... When I watched "Bonnie and Clyde" in 1967 our local Council tried to stop the Cinema showing it because they considered it immoral and violent....!!
