Short explanation: this ceremony covers small part of the Tanimbarese adat (cultural tradition) concerning a marriage proposal. The proposal is made by the Duan (family of the man) to the Lolat (family of the woman). The eldest of the family of the man visit the house of the family
of the woman to propose. In this ceremony performed by the Duan, the Duan give among other things: necklace, earings and gelang to the Lolat to give to the bride (calon pengantin perempuan).
