I can relate... I was pretty hung over my first time over Black Bear Pass in colorado. Probably not the best way to drive on dangerous trails. Black Bear's an awesome drive, though and something everybody should at least ride on once (not for newbie drivers)

Don't you bring maps when you go out on these back roads? Guide books?
Utah is some gorgeous country. But before I drive any back country roads in that region I study up some . . . and buy some topo maps. They give you a sense of what you're in for; where the steep roads are, etc.
1984 Wagoneer? Nice. Mine's a '90. Ugly as hell. I put a new engine in her three years ago.

Im headed there in Moab in Aug. Thinking of doing a jeep rental for the day and hit a trail...nothing crazy though lol. Are those trails you were on in the Nat Park?
