To everyone else, thanks for your comments, Nick is now 14 and is a hunting machine. He shot that deer through the lungs and she ran about 75 yards. As far as the head shots go, that will come later with more practice. As Uncle Ted would say, "where have we seen this before?". Nick has taken all the hunter safety courses and holds a lifetime license. So no he is very capable and responsible... or would you rather all these kids stay behind a video game????
DutchRabbit??? I posted this video. First, the younger the better. They are never too young to learn how to hunt and to learn about hunting safety. Hunting is our heritage and should be preserved. Secondly, his coordination is perfect, he is 4 for 4 and has never missed a deer. Every deer he shoots, he kills and we eat. That deer ran about 75 yards and went down and ended up on the dinner table. If you listen to the video, he was told to aim behind the shoulder, and guess where he shot?
there is no way you have killed a wild deer with a knife unless you float over the top of em with super powers and drop one em or the deer where you live are fucken idiots
I have already explained why I recommend a head shot. I can assure you that the animal dies instantly when stabbed in the brain and does not suffer at all. I would much prefer to be stabbed in the head than shot in the body as I would not feel anything. It is not possible to record a video, as killing a deer (or any animal) requires me to hold on to it with one hand and stab it in the head with the other hand. I will however provide photographs as proof next time I hunt deer if you want.
To answer your question, I live in Ireland. Just because you can't do something, doesn't mean other people can't. As I have previously said, I have been hunting with knives since I was ten years old. I'm now twenty-seven years old. My father has also been hunting with knives since he was a child, he is now forty-five. We both have years of experience knife hunting. As I said in my last reply, if you require proof I will quite happily provide it the next time I am hunting deer.
It's not a matter of catching the deer. You have to either track and sneak up on the deer or wait for it and ambush it. It can take hours, even days of work to catch a deer but with years of experience hunting smaller animals it does become easier. Next time I'm hunting deer I'll borrow a camera and take photographs of the deer for you as proof, so you can see there are no wounds other than a single stab to the head.
@Cosire266 Ok explain why you keep telling people to shoot these deer in the head, and you keep saying that you hunt with a knife, First off I call Bullshit. Killing an animal with a knife would cause it to suffer more, I would rather be shot than stabbed anyday, post a video of you killing a deer with a knife I would pay to see that shit.
As well as killing the animal instantly, a head shot would leave the heart undamaged for eating. The brain does not need to be intact as it doesn't taste particularly nice but can be turned into a paste for tanning the hide to make leather. That's why, when I hunt, I insert the knife through the bottom of the head and into the brain. Next time you're hunting, try hitting the head. I guarantee it won't run away like the deer in this video.
I've killed many animals with knives, including deer. I've been hunting with knives since I was ten years old when my dad thought me how to. My family only eat animals we kill ourselves as we object to treating animals like products. Also, we like to know where the things we consume come from (which is also why we grow our own vegetables, fruit, cannabis, herbs and grain). We don't use guns because it give a hunter an unfair advantage over the animal they are hunting.
great to see the youth of America getting into hunting and the skill and art is being passed down, keep it up nick.
