She made a Prawn Katsu not a tempura, I work in a Japanese restaurant!...Plus if she dipped the prawns in flour first, then batter then Panko...it will get a better coating...and wouldnt have the gaps in the prawns when she lift it out!

Dear masaegu,
I know that. However as modernization occurs, ebi-fry is common. It's tempura, ebi-fry style.

Tempura doesn't use bread crumbs/

when she says when the oil is too hot the shrimp wont be cook and the batter will be burnt its like a song

That is hardly tenpura, it's tasty too but it's a heavier and more fat dish, it's called ebi furai, very common in japan too but not as delicious for me as real ebi tenpura

@mdice213 lol Maybe so in your area. Nowhere else including Japan itself! And don't use the stupid three-letter abbreviation for our people or country. You ain't got no respect!!

@mdice213 if you know anything about Japanese cooking, breadcrumbs is not used in making authentic tempuras. breadcrumbs is used in ebi-fry.
