@lab1965 Are you referring to Pascal's Wager? That assumes you are praying to the right god. If you were born in another part of the world you would be praying to Allah or the dozens of Hindu gods. Religion causes people to pretend to know things they cannot know and call it "faith".
And I’m not blaming a "god" for starving children; I’m saying the world tics along just as it would as though there was no god (like 99% of everything that has ever lived going extinct). There is no "plan".

Jesus cares? According to the WHO, 15 million children die every year of starvation. If you believe there is an entity that cares about you or any person on this planet you are deluding yourself.
Our ancestors created gods out of pure ignorance to facts about nature and fear of the unknown. This gave them comfort, soothed their quest for understanding, or allowed them to conquer other nations and claim god was on their side (remember the Amalekites?). The claims of Christianity are untrue.

@northoforacle I would rather believe now and find out later that what I believe in was false (which I'm confident won't happen) than not believe now and find out later that God's Word is True. God has a plan and Man can believe or not. It's NOT based on situations that may happen along the road. It rains on the just and the unjust. I'm glad HE cares and I'm glad HE cares for me even though MY road isn't always smooth.
