Okay, seriously...this ALONE should prove they all had extraordinary talent and belong in the rock and roll hall of fame. The harmonizing is absolutely beautiful. I'm 23...and I would watch reruns on tv land back when i was like 7...and recently caught the shows on another channel and it reignited my already strong love for them, Side note, why aren't guys this gorgeous nowadays?

Well, yeah, it's a pretty song, and I read what the lyrics meant and so on; but what language is that? What's the history of the song?
-
It's so lame they don't show the original ending where Davy was wishing everyone "happy christmas" and the credits played over that. That was actually the first time in my life I ever heard anyone say "happy christmas". Is that a british thing?

I remember when it ORIGINALLY aired; I am a life-long Monkees fan (Peter is my favorite, for the record). I have the 6 original albums on vinyl (I xferred them to CD myself). This year my husband bought me both seasons on DVD for Christmas. Incredible harmonies on this song.

Are they lipsyncing?

This is one of my favorite songs to listen to by them. It's beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

0:28 - Peter sniffs his incense!
The song translated is...
River, roaring river, guard our homes in safety,
God has kept the black wolf from our lamb, our Lady.
God has kept the black wolf from our lamb, our Lady.
Raging mad to bite her, there the wolf did steal,
But our God Almighty defended her with zeal.
Pure He wished to keep Her so She could never sin,
That first sin of man never touched the Virgin sainted.
River, roaring river...

The song the Monkees are singing in the christmas show is...
Monkees — Riu Chiu lyrics
Riu riu chiu, la guarda ribera;
Dios guardo el lobo de nuestra cordera,
Dios guardo el lobo de neustra cordera.
El lobo rabioso la quiso morder,
Mas Dios poderoso la supo defender;
Quisola hazer que no pudiese pecar,
Ni aun original esta Virgen no tuviera.
