A Muslim woman who practiced medicine in Saudi Arabia is traveling the U.S. speaking about her experience under the orthodox rule of the kingdom's state-sponsored religion -- that westerners call Wahhabism.
Dr. Qanta Ahmed wrote a book describing a religious lifestyle very different from the Islam she practiced growing up in Britain.
In her newly published book, Dr. Ahmed, who is of Pakistani descent, says she found practices that profoundly contradicts the Islam she follows.
Dr. Ahmed recently sat down with VOA's Julie Taboh to talk about her new book.

there was a Christian priest warned the church of it dominates and tyrant, in all of Europe in the medieval age, that will someday will create a wave of secularism and atheism in the future. Now Europe become an atheist continent.

I wonder the same thing that happen in Europe will be in Saudi Arabia?

  • @meenmethly actually they will get affected, if these so called barking dogs decide to interfere.. luckily for you, this is not the case now, so enjoy it while it lasts, could happen any day.

  • @1LaneOnly actually it is disputed , there is no direct evidence from the Quran that they must cover their hair. There is one verse , ordering the covering of bosoms in order to differentiate between slaves and free women, and even that is not in effect any more. The covering of hair comes basically from a tradition to cover from the sun, that got mixed up and jumbled in Islam somehow. Dressing modestly is encouraged of course, but each woman should decide what modest means to her. Peace bro

  • The evil Wahhabis pick on women & they don't say a thing about their drunken, gambling & corrupt so-called royals.

  • She is right about the evil Wahhabis, but she should cover her hair.

In True Sunni-Islam women are ordered to cover their hair & dress modestly.

The Wahhabis abuse women & force them to cover their faces.

They don't let them drive or even walk outside without a male relative or husband.

None of these harsh restrictions on women were ordered by God & his blessed Prophet Muhammad. [PBUH]

  • "Wahabis " never Moslem...They are living in shirq and they are qafirun,,,

  • With Islam ..SAUDIA ARABIA move on U will not be affected by the barking dogs

I'm proud to be Saudi girl

  • Mohamed Abdul wahab isn't a prophet as some say .

Write Mohamed Abdul wahab in wikipedia and will find full answer.

Please don't talk according to what you heard.

  • I agree with Dr. Ahmed and I command her for being honest in her book. I read the book and found it to be both objective , fair and interesting as well.
