When the regrettable bureaucrat Bettman is finally gone, let's hope that the league retirement of #99 will be undone except, of course, for Edmonton. If Gretzky had any class he would do it himself. He might learn some humility from Orr, who outclasses him both on and off the ice.

@kirby19711 That isn't what Howe says. Watch these clips..it shows Orr blowing by Howe in a number of them..Howe, Hull, Espo, Clarke, Lafleur, Beliveau, MacDonald...they knew who Number 1 was..deep down, you do too. Howe was awesome..ran plus numbers throughout his 40's...awesome. But not Orr awesome.

He certainly was a great one,no doubt! But the best all around player, leader, and fighter is still #9, Gordie Howe.

And he was indestructible as well. Nothing against Bobby Orr as I liked him
much as well.

Bobby Orr is the greatest hockey player of all time. At 12 he was scouted by the Bruins, who made sure when he turned 18 he would play for them. Orr, despite having 8 operations on his left knee, and 4 on his right, led the league in scoring twice...as a defenceman. He scored the winning goals in both Cups won by Boston, and won the MVP of the Canada Cup (won by Canada), despite playing in terrible pain.Orr was called the perfect hockey player+ could skate shoot pass and fight like no one else.

The best that ever was, at the time. He made it look so easy & effortless. I filled many scrap books with his glories. The video is great. I feel sorry for Higgins & Eaton - what ever happened to them?
