An inventor by the name of Min Kyu Choi has developed a brilliant folding UK plug, which nabbed him the runner-up prize in the 2009 James Dyson Awards.
@FailMoy hey. kid, look. I dont get what u mean by the best(its prototype yet), but I want to remind u how technology has driven our market so fast. And thats caused problems either on our society and environment. Go finish ur homework first.
One reason for BS 1363 in 1947 was to reduce the number of child deaths caused by sockets. It succeeded brilliantly.
This plug fails to meet BS 1363 safety features for at least two reasons, access to fuse is possible when in socket, and there must be 9.5mm from pin to periphery of plug, not met when wings are folded.
It is illegal to supply plugs which do not meet BS 1363.
Is it appropriate to honour the design of an illegal object - did no one think of checking?
Has he actually tried pluging this into a typical UK socket. Most are quite stiff and this plug looks like it could easily break off in the socket, exposing the live conductors.

Look so nice. nifty! But it doesn't solve problem, but just shift..unfortunately.
Andf as soon as u have new technology plug, such as the wireless power supply, it'll be just gone. So, just wonder, when it'll come out.

Stunningly simplistic solution to an age old problem. Brilliant.
