This is only one reason why I am no longer Catholic though raised and educated Catholic. The Catholic Church hates women. Get that through your skulls. It is why we are leaving the Church in droves and taking our sons, future priests with us.

The medical professionals (not some commentator much later who isn't one) believed without an abortion that the mother and child would have both died. Is this preferable to the guy condemning the hospital and this nun? What would have been his opinion then? Would the death of both justified his principles? Was this woman his wife, sister or niece? Of course not.

Doctors have discussed this - aborting a baby does not treat pulmonary hypertension. The correct treatment according to Dr. Clinton Leonard is cardiac support which can be managed by medications.

ummm are you a doctor?

The killing of a 'completely innocent human being'? Has the catholic church done an about-turn on the notion of Original Sin? Is the sacrament of baptism no longer necessary to confer sanctifying grace on children? If the church cares so much about unbaptised children why do they not have a sacrament to protect them? A recent group of Vatican theologians did away with the notion of limbo, but would not go so far as to state that children who died unbaptised made it to heaven. Compassion? Huh!!

Abortion is the KILLING of a human being. God bless bishop Olmstead.

@budgiefly1 Did you even watch the entire video before you started your little rant? The ends doesn't justify the means

You don't realize the extent to which pulmonary hypertension is dangerous to pregnant women, do you? Sister Margaret had to choose between allowing one death or two. She chose the option that caused the least death. Contrary to your childish belief, abortion is not a black and white issue. You would rather see a woman die unnecessarily than admit that you were wrong about something, and that's pathetic.
Members of Christ's universal (Catholic) Church do not rejoice in the fact that someone, especially someone that should know better, has chosen to separate theirself from God but, personally I am glad to see the Church continue to be defended. Did (the former?) Sister commit Scandal by misleading people into thinking that this was an acceptable practice? She did not act alone.

@Edsemi01 We completely agree, and are deeply saddened by the physical death of that baby, and the spiritual death of those responsible for procuring the abortion. There is nothing to rejoice in this situation at all. I do not know if Sr. McBride has been laicized, and I think it is safe to say that she did indeed scandalize quite a few people.

I support bishop Olmsted. But can I add my signature even if I'm not American?

@rytsign69 Yes. When you fill in each line of the form to sign the letter, you will notice that City, Zip, and Country are required, while state/province/territory are not.
