@befreeberich 2 words: private healthcare ~ it's very simple. Those who can afford fast treatment can go private whereas those who are unable to afford treatment have to wait. Its a much better solution than the alternative which is to abandon the poor and perpetuate the cycle of poverty.
Kindly take your head out of your ass.

It seems to me that the Government's number one priority should be sorting out the economic mess the country is in. It would be nice to also admit that the mess was the result of Government interference in bank lending and investment that caused it in the first place.

@ri0r Few people in either Britain or the USA are 'for' the status quo.
Everybody wants to see improvement. The British media would have us believe that the NHS is shit, but in reality, it trups the US system, and is one of the best. Of course, this does not mean that people are automatically in favour of the US system - obviously, this scenario needs to be avoided.
I for one would like to see free prescriptions everywhere in the UK and an extension of free healthcare to our territories.

@befreeberich I have never had a problem with the NHS.
I have always had swift, quality treatment. Ignoring the bullshit about success rates...
The NHS provides one of the world's best, if not the best, preventative care. This is the problem facing America; in many cases, the early stages of care are poor and people put off going to the doctors.
There is a reason why the UK has a higher life expectancy than the US.

NHS sucks with every statistic but everyone just says if it just had more money then everything would improve. But it just gets worse. I would rather pay with money than with time. If you have a life threatening condition and need an operation is it worth waiting 12 months for an operation that would be immediate in other countries and then the success rate is one of the lowest in the western world. Cameron knows that he has to support the NHS religion or he will get kicked out. 1.2million staff

Hannan gives the true tory view of the nhs.

@LordTowel Lol ty, though I guess neither can claim absoluteness due to the free market system not yet been fully tested.

@XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX By god I don't think I've ever met someone more Libertarian than you! I admire your consistency, and respect and agree with the majority of the libertarian views. But damn, with something as important as healthcare and other such essentials to life, I believe government has to be involved, certainly as a regulator, and in most cases a provider. But I’ll take a libertarian like Ron Paul over a nutjob social neo-conservative anytime. Have a good day!

@LordTowel Well I suppose giving the occasional free course of drugs or treatment would be good PR for the said company, though in a free market costs would be far cheaper and employment would be far higher so that would minimise the likely hood of not being able to pay significantly.
The US spends 17% of GDP on healthcare for a market based system which is jerry-rigged to support the rich. The UK spends 10% of GDP on healthcare, for universal coverage for all, and a overall longer life for all it's citizens. Thank god I live in the UK!
