It passes my spine-tingling test. If it moves me to hear it, how much more it must move her to play it. Silly comments on youtube from people who expect musicians to be stone-faced.

@piuotre learn grammar before you comment on music.

She plays so passionately and calmly at the same time that it is delighting. After listening to her playing this Chopin masterpiece, I am ready to die so that she can play for me at my funeral.

Grimaud is incredibly good at the brahms sonatas - I recommend checking them out

@terrygowork Look. Everyone has their own style. A lot of people rubbish Lang Lang, and they shouldn't. It is very clear that Helene and Lang Lang are top line pianists, and you know it.
I notice that you like Sviatolslav Richter. So do I. But he acts far more than Helene does!. I don't see you criticising Richter. You wouldn't dare! That would be sacrilege. :)
I don't personally care what they do, as long as they produce a great sound.

@bb0ysmiley I agree :)
I haven't tackled Liszt yet :P

@TheOptimisticPianist : But of course, that might be alittle subjective =)
What I prefere? I don't know yet. Not familiar with the piece, but some day I probably is =) Have only one finished Chopin piece in my reportoire at the moment, but some more is coming soon. Liszt is occupating alot of my time =)
PS. I think she played beutifully. People should think less on "How something is supposed to sound", and a little more on how it sounds =)

@piuotre I disagree, playing it slowly helps with the contrast, some people have murdered it by playing it too fast.
I play it that speed myself.

Miss Grimaud is a wonderful being. Being wonderful she is entitled to exist. Then again, all she is doing is playing the piano, something SHE and we rather like. She is not fishing for Youtube approval. Let's remember this about most talented musicians.
Merci/Grazie/Thankyou/Gracias etc. etc.
She is very talented... Maybe arrogant people who play music with their minds instead of their hearts should change hobbies.

Thanks for posting this... but what's with the negative comments people? I mean we are all entitled to an opinion; and my opnion is there are people on here with too much time on their hands to look up a piano player they don't appreciate, and then comment why Ms Grimaud's piano playing is imperfect. Personally, I like her style of playing because she plays with real heart felt emotion, which speaks louder than taught techniques. Peace and Love.
