Shodo Harada Roshi, the abbot of Sogenji, a beautiful 17th century monastery in Okayama in Japan and international teacher of Rinzai Zen Buddhism, demonstrates his large scale calligraphy works.

Shodo Harada Roshi was a student of the scholar and Zen Master Yamada Mumon Roshi (1900-1988), one of the great leaders of the Renzi Buddhist sect. Mumon Roshi traveled widely including the San Francisco Zen Center, organized exchanges of ideas between Christians and Buddhists and lived in monasteries in Europe before becoming the abbot of Myoshinji Temple and head of Hanzono College in Kyoto, Japan. In the past 20 years Harada Roshi has trained men and women from Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, Briton, the U.S., Australia, Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Iran, Greece, Sweden, India, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam and Japan. His students include people from all walks of life; from exploring youths to eminent professionals.
