  • I used to practice my racecraft on this stretch between 2am-5am, starting from the call box @ 1:58, down to the lower 45mph sign @ 5:03. My time was 2m04s, before they put in the large facility halfway down the long downhill straight which is now a set of S-turns.

Cops rarely patrol on dev slide cause it's too dangerous, just 1 mistake and you'll drive off the cliff or into oncoming traffic. LOL The rainy weather isn't as bad as the landslides.

so... anyone wanna race me there? seriously =]

  • @F2OOOGT My record is five hours and thirty-two minutes. Rarely ever ride Devil's Slide without a train of slow cars in the way.

  • dang, do they ever fix the roads in cali? Potholes, tar snakes, uneven pavement, cracks...sheesh. Nice view, but the road surface sucks.

  • There are a lot of really crappy roads in California. How do you think they'd pay for road repairs, it's not like we're the most-taxed state in the country or anything.

  • is this freeway 1 ? big sur coast ?

  • It's Highway 1, but north of Big Sur, just south of San Francisco.

  • @soliqsoliq roflll I just drive like 15-20 mph from Linda Marr, to the callbox on the bluff, it gives enough space usually from cars up ahead, if not, I'll pull over in the turnout, and wait for a good gap before starting, it's definitely worth the wait. :D

  • @soliqsoliq ROFL I know what ya mean man, in the daytime it's often crowded with slowpokes. I just either stop @ the turnouts and wait for a big gap, or I'll create a gap by driving like 15-20 mph from Linda Mar / pedro point side... people honk and flash headlights, but once I get to the start points, I floor it usually leaving them behind after the diving right / left turns @ 2:17

It's better after 2am tho, no other cars, pitch blackness, and most montara police in shift change till 6am =]

  • are those pot holes or small valleys ?! ;)

  • brian davison, talkin about potholes and such, try pittsburgh lol were full of them :)

  • @BryanDavison

Although the road is full of cracks and pot holes..the quality of the pavement itself is way better than our roads here in Greece!

  • 2:06 nice Panorama

  • This road is terrifying when it rains.

  • What a shame. It looks a 5th world road. But nice view and video.
