I had the privilege of watching Keola and Kapono Beamer sing this song several times while living on Oahu. They NEVER SMILED as they sang it ~ it represented true loss in their lives. When I wistfully remember Hawaii, this is the song that plays in my mind. Of all the glorious fun and happy music I remember on several islands, this song stands alone as a tear-jerker. It represents the true 'Hawaii' I saw there. Mahalo for posting this.
Like Wanda the Wahine sez..play every day for comfort and joy.

Love Bla's version. He makes it sound so bluesy and soulful.....sad too. He gives me chicken skin.
