The only nit pick I have on this series is why 'she' took a flame thrower with her :P if it wasn't suppose to go down like it did. It was explained as, just in case... in case of what?
well, I'd say this does effect the DCU big time. It was the chink in the armor that broke the trust in the DCU among the JLA, which came to a boil in Infinite Crisis. It stained a lot of relationships and characters had to learn to trust one another again. On that level it was huge.
I didn't think it was extreme at all.They wanted to make sure it never happened again and it was a nice alternative to killing him.
