  • I have a question. Is it possible to backup the SAM file, remove the password with chntpw, and then when finished working put the old SAM file back so that the user wouldn't notice?

  • @VasilKuzevski

Not with chntpw. But, you can copy the SAM file and use Ophcrack, Rainbow Crack or an online cracker to tell you what the password is.
