@ErikPaulsonFan I had heard something about that, yeah. Seems Hollywood shan't rest until it's defiled the memories of all its classics.
-
@Tryzon And they're doing the same crap with RoboCop next year!!!
-
@ErikPaulsonFan Like you said, we must disagree. I don't deny that their existence is probably due solely to a desire for money on the behalf of the company, but I still say they turned out better than some. I'm not asking you to stop hating. I'm just saying I don't hate them. You know what annoys me infinitely more? The upcoming Total Recall remake. Absolute sacrilege. I have precious little faith in that one turning out even as well as RoboCop 2 did.
-
@Tryzon They're equally as guilty; they were all made for money only, and ruined what was a good thing in the original(s).
-
@ErikPaulsonFan You can lump me into the "ardent fans of the original" club, too. One of my all-time faves. I just don't hate the sequels, though I definitely dislike #3. In particular, they at least continued and concluded the story in fairly logical fashions, which is already more than I can say for most unnecessary follow-ups. I think things like the Star Wars prequels are much more guilty of "put[ting] a stain on an otherwise great legacy."
-
@Tryzon Respectfully disagree. The original should have been left alone, but the lust for money churned out CRAP which, in my opinion, put a stain on an otherwise great legacy.
RoboCop was a great action film, but also one that made a statement. To try to milk more money out of it--and then completely change the formula for the worse along the way--was a big mistake, and really irritates such ardent fans of the original like me.
A kid bad guy, a brain in a machine, a sadistic tone, etc-bad!!

@ErikPaulsonFan I've heard good things about Prime Directives, but that's about it. I actually think RoboCop 2 is pretty decent by sequel standards, though; it does things a bit differently while still doing a respectable job of emulating Verhoeven's trademark dark satire. It's more comic book-esque, but I'd prefer that to an inferior remake or something. I don't even like the third one, but there are still MUCH worse sequels out there. Bit of controversy there.
-
@Tryzon I try to forget it was ever made (though I like Fred Dekker, the guy who directed it).
Their sequel should have been made. That goes for the TV shows as well.
-
@ErikPaulsonFan Wow. If you hate the second one so much, I can't comprehend how you feel about the third.
-
@Tryzon It's not the theme that annoys people, it's what it stands for: shitty film, a blue Robo suit, terrible plot, terrible bad guys, a moronic tone throughout the movie, and a completely different style than the original (read: a crap style).
This movie should never have been made.

@Sahluful now, there are two guy who get punched.
-
@SuperMario1611 His badassery is augmented.
-
The origial Adam Jenson.
-
@harizotoh7 I would disagree. Again, I prefer the original tunes, but I think RoboCop 2's music fits the more comic book-esque style.
-
@Tryzon The music doesn't seem to fit the scenes.
-
*ding* *dong* no body home...

-
@jimmyxxboy Yes, I've found the RoboCop 2 soundtrack splits opinions quite readily. I personally like it, even if I greatly prefer the original's timeless theme.
-
Horrible music...
I love the way he knocks on the door. I've been sitting here for the past minute replaying it and trying to copy it. I can't quite get it down. Peter Weller is such a good actor.
