@hitchcockhill new york city is the mecca of everything important. Music, art, fashion, business, television, dining. I'm from kansas and I currently live in NYC and I gladly pay a small fortune for a shitty apartment just to live in the center of everything that is important to me. I love it here. Completely worth it the money.

Hi, thank you for posting. The cost of living in NYC is insane. I just do not see shacking up with two or three strangers and work my ass off to just be in NYC. What is the appeal to life in NYC? I mean is life in NYC really that good? Is there really that much opportunity?

The cost to live in NYC is insane. I don't know why people live here? There are so many other amazing places in the USA that are much cheaper. My job sort of keeps me here - but I could transfer and think about doing it often. I'm not sure what the allure is - but people stay and pay at the *** to have tiny apartments here. I live with 3 other people in a 4 bedroom. To have my own place would increase my rent like $500 a month. No thanks.
