While at a train event with my grandpa that was hosted by the Niles Canyon Railway, I noticed the all the doors on Southern Pacific NW2 #1423 were open, allowing me to see the engine inside. Noticing this, I realized that my grandpa knows a lot about the internal parts of diesel locomotives and so we decided to make a video of him explaining how diesel locomotives (or in this case a diesle-electric locomotive) work. Plus he explained a little bit about how trains are operated. Here's the result of all that.

  • @Amtrakrailfan23 Yeah, he sure does! He's been into trains for pretty much his whole life and he actually volunteers at the railroad museum in Sacramento. I think I get my interest in trains from him.
