@johnnyo450 how to they compare to dead bolts?

they're not kidding you when they talk about the popularity of mail theft and identity theft. Take action now. I'm designing a mailbox as we speak.

or someone could just hit it then take it somewhere if they have powertools

In 2004 Kryptonite recalled their tubular locks and replaced them with a new flat-key disc-cylinder lock system because the tubular locks were found to be easily picked using nothing more than a Bic pen tube. For the price of these mailboxes, they should have a lock which cant be picked in 10 seconds!

let me make this clear the mail man does not have a key to the box. the mail is inserted in almost the same way as you would a post box on the street. That box is locks and you put mail in without a key you only need the key to remove the mail. as for mail you are sending out there is a ledge inside the mail box below were the incoming mail is dropped that allows the mail person to pick up outgoing mail. however the outgoing mail is not secured from theives.

Great video !!!!

It is funny to see people describe tube locks as cheap. In fact they are more expensive to produce than comparable flat key locks and much harder to pick...especially with varying tube diameters.

Every Secure Locking Mailbox can be pryed or blown opened. That is not the point. The point is the length of time it takes to open. Almost all "locking Mailboxes" that are available can be opened with your bare hands or a small screw driver in a couple of seconds. A true security locking mailbox such as the Mail Boss is exceedingly difficult to open even with a crow bar or any other tool.

@artisanp: Actually, you cannot easily bend this mailbox with a crowbar. You are seeing our competitors mailboxes easily pried open. Ours can be bent, in about 5 minutes by a 200 lb man!
@obeseotters: The mailman DOES NOT NEED A KEY to deliver your mail, there is a incoming mail slot that opens without a key and allows the mail man to drop your mail down into the storage compartment, which cannot be accessed without a key.
Tubular locks offer superior protection to pin-tumbler locks and wafer-tumbler locks, but they are also more expensive. Instead of one row of pins, tubular locks have pins positioned all the way around the circumference of the cylinder plug. This makes them much harder to pick. Conventional lock-picking techniques usually don't work on this type of lock.
