Did you listen to the Video? Expecting behavior change is a nice idea but it does not and has not worked. It is time to look at engineering an environment where the conflict is reduced rather than legal or financial structures. Understanding and then apply existing proven techniques for creating a cycle friendly environment that has huge social, health and economic benefits for all people aged 8 to 80.

It's funny how on the continent drivers cope with cyclists fine. We do not need separate cycle lanes, we need strict liability for the driver and education! In most cases it's not quicker to overtake the cyclist but most drivers are to oblivious to process the fact that they have to overtake the same cyclist multiple times. If a cyclist is able to re-overtake you then clearly if you had sat behind them you would be no further back down the road and no later to your destination!

In which way Stew? I mean there are obvious material costs on both sides: a bike may actually be worth more than a car or vice versa. Plus add on costs to health, well-being, lost work etc. It's a complex one.
