I put this video together as part of a presentation about anorexia. Some of the fashion pics appear to have undergone some photoshop manipulation, but i kept them in to make a point. The "ideal body image" put out by the media is a gross and damaging lie. You want to see photoshop manipulation? Look at the cover of any fashion magazine. Look up evolution of beauty on youtube. Right from little kids we are bombarded with this ridiculous idea of what is beautiful. It is there in toys, music, television, fashion, dancing...everywhere...this disgusting lie that we need to look like them to be worth something. No wonder millions of people have developed anorexia and other eating disorders. We need to get informed and know the signs so that we can be there to help our family, friends and loved ones. Sit down with your kids and talk to them about the media. Give them some defense against the dangerous seeds planted there.

To anyone struggling with an eating disorder, I truly hope you find help and take control of your life. Think back to how it all started. When did you first start to think that any body fat was ugly? The more you think about it, the more i hope you begin to see that you've been lied to. You already are beautiful. You do not have to make yourself look like THEM to be special. All the strength and beauty you will ever need are already inside you.

  • If they made "fat barbies" would we have a problem with child obesity? Its a toy...and as far as i know Barbie was a good example to young girls that they can do anything! Eating disorders are psychological i've been there I know... And I know as someone who went through it, the person with the disorder can fix themselves with positive influences...as long as its not to late.

  • @Jessi3787

I'm not going to debate whether or not they should make "fat" barbies. The question is why make them unrealistically skinny? Barbies are not modeled after a healthy body.

  • dont forget that they make a foto and change them (with photoshop and so on) that the whole build looks good, but for real the models looking horrible in 3D. If you would stand near this model you wouldnt think she s beautiful. For real...think about it

  • absolutely right...just youtube "dove evolution"

  • anorexia is NOT the media's fault. it is a distortion of self image based on psycological issues, like abuse, control, and trauma, ptsd. btw, the girl shown at 2:20 is NOT fat. she is normal. i am not sure why she is in with this skeleton freakshow.

  • Anorexia is a psychological disease, so yes, it is a distortion of self image etc...but don't underestimate the media's part. Young people want to emulate success. They want to be like the girls in the fashion magazines, the movie stars.

As for the girl at 2:20, that was more about the tiny print you can't see..quotes like "every time you say no thank you, you say yes please to thin".

  • very very good. the word fat does not exist, it has been created as an image, not a reality. there is no need to lose weigh unless it is causing your body heath problems.

  • How do you dare to say that ?!

    People DIE from anorexia

    Yeah , sure that's sexy !

    Oh My god , loser

  • @TheMostHappy1533 NOO! Anorexic girls do not get called beautiful, that's a lie. People just look at them and worry about them. And tell them they need to eat. They get told they look disgusting.

  • @Kryptnyt yeah. my sister is skinny, and she tried out for modeling and they rejected her because she gained like 5 pounds. She was only 110 pounds?

  • If I weren't naturally thin, I would be a thick girl because I could never starve myself. That crap is unbearable. I know what it's like to be hungry, so I don't see how people manage to do it on purpose. They must be really motivated to be thin. I could not cope with the pain.

  • I'm just a dude, so I don't know, but when I look at this stuff I think, that's disgusting, who's refusing them food? Who's telling them that skeletal figure is hot? Its not.

I don't think we can blame Barbie dolls for these girls. They need to be refused modeling jobs and told to eat some food.

Hell, the modeling industry is useless anyway. Its like a crap art show. And these girls are nothing short of disgusting. A sexual relationship would be nothing short of impossible.

  • I'm doing my senior project on eating disorders and how the media plays a roll in the development of one. I find it horrible that for a girl to be called beautiful she must be stick thin and a size 0.

(this is personal for me as well....I'm recovering from anorexia)

  • I think the stress for being thin is harder for middle and upper aged women. Yes, it is hard for young women because they have nothing else in life yet- a completed education, established career, kids/husband to feel accomplished. But, when you're younger its easier to at least attain some sort weight loss- its harder as you get older. Then add pregnancy which adds weight- and age. At least young women have their age as a plus- older women are less desirable as it is, so its harder for us.

  • anorexia isnt a joke and its hard to get out of it TRUST ME IM ANOREXIC

  • omfg at 1:54 :( its so sad that people have this disorder and are litstening to what other people think! just be yourself not someone else :) x

  • What is the poster with the anorexia quotes?

  • Great video. What is the name of the 3rd song?
