song: Aenima by Tool;
This is a commentary on not only the hype surrounding Irene, but the last 15 years in general. We've been saturated with end-of-the-world movies, fear campaigns on the news, and every time a big event like Irene happens, the talking heads on the media exagerate it and hype it up, and millions of people get thrown into a state of panic. We all need to learn how to make decisions for ourselves instead of letting Bill O'Reiley and Sean Hannity do all the thinking for us.
I live in the Hampton Roads area; we got hit, but by then, Irene was a cat 1 and we only got tropical force winds. The media was calling it a hundred-year storm (TM) when it was really just an 8-year storm. I began editing this video during the hurricane until the power went out; it really wasn't that bad.
And if you don't know the song, here are the lyrics:
Some say a comet will fall from the sky
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves
Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still
Followed by billions of dumbfounded dipshits and
Some say the end is near
Some say we'll see armageddon soon
I certainly hope we will
I sure could use a vacation from this
Stupid shit
Silly shit
Stupid shit
One great big festering neon distraction
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied
Learn to swim (3x)
Mom's gonna fix it all soon
Mom's coming 'round to put it back the way it ought to be
@MrElchomat so it means cleansing instead of soul?
