This is an example intended to illustrate the principle of Emissivity and how it effects how different materials absorb different amounts of thermal infrared energy. This video shows how one object (an Oak Leaf) is heated more than another (Ice).
I apologize for the wind noise in the recording as it was a bit windy that day in HELL, MI on the ice.

  • Hi Victor,

Nice illustration of real world example of infrared principles! And quite appropriate to the season.

But does the infrared world always use emissivity and absorptivity interchangeably? Yep, recall that they are equal at equilibrium, but to me have related but different meanings.

    Please share more real examples!
