It's a socket F processor "ment for servers" but would destroy games

Any comments about LINUX compatibility with this new processor?

I am especially interested in compatibility issues with Debian based distributions.

Thanks for any feedback.

no,you found a server motherboard, definetly not standard atx with space for 16 slots of ram,4 cpu's and pci-e slots, that was a server board.

theres a couple dual cpu boards, one amd released just prior to the first phenom but it failed miserably,it was called the quadfather and used 2 dual core amd cpu's to emulate a quad core cpu.intel also has a dual cpu board called skulltrail that uses 2 cpu's,its a sick piece of work and is fast.i love amd and have a 295 gtx ,6 gig ram, phenom 2 940 rig.

You're right. It wasn't a standard one. It was an extended ATX, like my current one. And a -single- PCI-E slot.

Was not a server board, even though intended for use -as- a server.

I guess you are talking about the Tyan S4980G2NR. Cool "little" mother.... . To bad Tyan put it out of production.

Four AMD Opterons with six cores each. Also, check out suppliers such as Scan (UK) which have had the processor for quite a while, now.
