I believe that a lot of the perceived AK inaccurate also come from that fact that most people (via video mostly) have only seen them being used by untrained forces. In the hands of a trained solider they are very good , just about any rifle is more accurate than the man using it most of the time.

what you say is very true. I was a soldier for 10 years. I can tell you condition in the field are never as good as on the range. I would take a more reliable firearm than the precision one. The AK is a very good firearm take it from some one who has face them. I am glad to say most of the men wielding them are not as good as the weapon they have.

Go ahead and believe that. The AK is (by design) looser on tolerances. This by default makes a weapon less accurate. The M16 is precision manufactured with tolerances in mind, and the multi-lug bolt is more stable than even those in M14s.
You can go ahead and blindly believe in an AK, but you can also wallow in your own ignorance. Both weapon systems have their own strengths.

@mkcsu27 Lol man. Ak is accurate weapon. It have same accuracy that m4 or m16. absolutly same.

@boffinboy100 Yea, you are correct, the money is just not there and they have LOT'S, AND LOT'S of accurate and reliable AK-74's 'In Stock'!! Recoil is so minimal the only reason to go to the AK-200 would be for a 7.62x39mm cartridge, and the 5.45mm is already an upgrade. All they need is an effective picatinny system for receiver and forearm now that optics and light's, etc are so prevelant, with that the -74 is viable until the next LEAP in weaponry comes along!

@mkcsu27 The folding stock is a popular option, I saw Arsenal sell's some TRUE 100-series folding stock models as the (7.62x39) SGL 21-94 and the (5.45x39.5) SGL 31-94, but I prefer the fixed and theyre cheaper. I just picked up a BEAUTIFUL Plum Arsenal SGL 31 to go with my SGL 21, also found Izhmash produced PLUM mags, same design as bulgrian Circle 21's, (steel reinforcement in feed lips, front/rear, bottom, front/back locking lugs)!!!! That being said, the AR-15 still has a spot in my safe!

As for getting both, it kind of depends on the application for me. For an all-around rifle, I'd probably take the AR-15. Its got a lot of accessories, a great optics mounting system, and is pretty modular. For purely indoors, I'd probably go with an Americanized AK100 series like the one Larry Vickers demonstrated. The folding stock is one thing that the AR-15 fails to offer.

I've spoken to a couple Vietnam veterans and a lot of what they mentioned was either because of ammunition quality or the lack of a chrome chamber or forward assist. Those issues have mostly been remedied. One of the reasons why the AK is perceived as inaccurate is probably the sights. Those sights can be difficult to use under fire. That being said, the AK wasn't designed for premier accuracy. Differences in doctrine and all.

@mkcsu27 Hell, look at the M4 series of vids on here (Tactical Arms) where he throws the Doublestar off that 30-40 foot hill, then 'muds' it up, still worked, kind of pleasing to see the AR's can take more abuse than they get credit for... That being said, the AK-47/-74 are also MUCH more accurate than they are given credit for, bottom line, they're both good, one's more accurate and one is more reliable, make your choice... Or get both!!
"Ak's are more accurate than people give them credit for"
True dat!

@LimpBizkitRus you are right, man.
4 years ago, i had the Military training course and we had to fire the AKM for graduating. Just less than 1 week learning how to use AK, i hit the center of the target in 100m 3 times out of 3 rounds.
No matter what they were told, i believe and i know that AK is deadly accurate, even more than M16 or M4 sometimes.
