Artists of Chinese dancing group 'Dancing Butterfy' perform at Richmond Cultural Centre in Richmond, BC, Canada during the Community Dance and Craft Day event on May 8, 2010. The event was part of Asian Heritage Month celebrations being held every year by the city in May.

The two performances presented by the group are:

1. Celebration: This is a folk dance from Northeastern China called Dung Bei Yang Gu. In thanksgiving events, people perform this dance in the park to celebrate the harvest season in the fall.

2. Jasmine: The music is adapted from a popular folk tune of Jiangsu province of Southern China. The dance praises a local woman's beauty comparing her to jasmine flowers and shows their pastoral character.

The Dancing Butterfly group is actively involved in community events, especially through performances to promote Chinese culture and the nation's rich heritage. China consists of 56 minority groups which have their own religious and cultural traits. These charisma and traits are expressed through a variety of dances.
