These are both Sawmill tunes I learned on Youtube! The first from Tom MacKenzie in Vermont and the other from Julie Duggan in New York State and John (sparkyfidle )in England . I have capoed them up for our fiddle playing friends here .. All the best and thanks for the inspiring banjo and fiddle playing here on YT Yours Guy

Sawmill tuning is gDGCD with out the capo . at the second fret this is an A dorian tuning . I am playing a Mike Ramsey hand made banjo .. Dobson Neck on a rather hefty pot (not mine the banjo's )

  • I just love this tune, your banjo playing rocks! I play this in a medley with "Seneca Square Dance" & "Possum's Tail is Bare" on the fiddle, of course.

  • @SueH99 It would be so much fun to play with People .. Im In connecticut . Where are you playing ??

  • @guywolff Hi, I'm in Bristol and my friend Janet & I run and OT Jam in Berlin, CT the first Tuesday each month. Maybe it's time to start a gathering in western CT!

  • @SueH99 Great website. That Senica tune or Waiting for the Federals was used on Ry Cooders "The Long Riders". Love it .Can you send me a tune list to learn before the Feb 7 th jam & can I come ? You guys are just what Ive been looking for. Most jams dont need ten clawhammer banjo players . Nice to see my old friend Dave Kiphuth mentioned here. I remember when it was Dave, Bob Carlin at the summer camp in New Milford and me playing clawhammer in CT, ( Oh and Dave Howard in Oakville) ..

  • @SueH99 Sue is that the Bristol OLd Time Fiddle gathering ??? I am in Litchfield . Someone told me they didn't need a lot of accompaniment instruments (Like BAnjo ) .
