Singkil is a Filipino Muslim dance using four bamboos crossover with a princess being followed by the prince. It was my second attempt with tr. Aisa to choreograph my elementary students to dance it. We succeed because at their age Shaina the princess and Adnan the prince ,danced it gracefully.I am proud of them!

  • Please stop saying it's a "Muslim dance". Have you ever seen people in Saudi Arabia or Pakistan dance this way? This is a Southern Filipino dance, it's just happen that the people who dance it are Muslims. Thanks for uploading, btw.

  • @SukmaMatahari Your right, this is not a Muslim dance. The story behind this dance is more Hindu/Buddhist...

  • @oowen2784 Maybe that's because of their costumes and when it is originated is why they call it as that.

  • I actually prefer that this video is renamed as southern Filipino dance rather than Muslim Filipino dance since there's nothing religious that's related to this dance. If this is a Filipino cultural dance is related used to praise Allah along with the singing in say Tausug or Tagalog - then it would be more reasonable to say this is a Filipino Muslim dance.

  • First of all, you must not confuse Arabs with Muslims. They are two separate identities - the first being related to specifically racial culture and the latter is related to the religion of Islam. An Arab can also be Christian or Jewish. Like the great majority of natives in Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia, the great majority of the natives to southern Philippines are Muslims. This cultural dance just happens to be related to one of those southern Filipino tribes who are mostly Muslims.

  • @TheWahyuramadhan North Borneo(sabah) have dance like this n more faster than this.. juz search magunatip dance sabah on youtube..

  • dude u just dont want to admit the history of Philippines. Philippines was like Malaysia and Indonesia, Muslim region of Asia. You guys rather say u are Spanish when you are not. And theres nothing wrong with being Muslim. And MAJORITY (like over 95%) of South Philippines is MUSLIM :P
