Amanda was in an abusive relationship back home in Arkansas. A domestic violence shelter told Amanda they would help her and her unborn child out by giving her a bus ticket to any shelter that would take her in. After calling nine states, Amanda finally found a shelter that would accept her in Texas—the Missionaries of Charity in Dallas.

Thats when she found her way to GEMS.
