Letterman always bullies his guests, especially Pekar. I know his joke is to poke fun, and do a humorous back and forth, but he's, at the heart of it, just kind of a bully. And the audience is on his side, which makes it work for him. Whenever Harvey would make a little jab at Letterman, the audience would chuckle. But when Letterman makes a joke at Harvey's expense, the crowd goes wild. Little GE puppet.
