Crowd-structure interaction modelling utilising a discretely defined pedestrian crowd. Each pedestrian's footfall force is modelled as a function of their walking velocity, and level of bridge acceleration at their location. The sum of all pedestrian footfall forces excites the bridge model, providing two way interaction between the bridge and crowd models.

The modelling is part of a Ph.D project investigating pedestrian-induced bridge vibration within the Centre for Structural Engineering and Construction, a research group at the University of Nottingham.
