A 5 minute preview presented by
Vicki Lundine, M.Ed. & Catherine Smith, M.Ed.
Recorded by ACT-Autism Community Training.

Why Focus on Transition to Adulthood? Although the emphasis on transition from high school to work officially begins in Grade 10 and continues until graduation, in reality, the process should begin much earlier for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Attitudes toward work combined with decisions we make for students can significantly influence the path they may choose to follow. The webcast defines the roles and responsibilities for individuals supporting students as they mature with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including parents, and provides participants with information and strategies which help promote meaningful participation for students with ASD in the work world. The importance of developing and maintaining career portfolios is also explored.

Who Should Watch this Webcast? This webcast is aimed primarily at school teams and parents working with middle and high school students on the Autism Spectrum, but the content is also relevant for all parents, teachers and community professionals supporting students of all ages with ASD. The life journey that fosters the exploration and discovery of the gifts and talents of students with ASD, which can lead to meaningful community participation, begins early.
