I wonder if he knew it would take Britain until 2006 to pay for the war.

Be greatful that there still is a Britain.

He was the only one, amongst the entire First World free nations, who saw Hitler and his Third Reich (and later, the Axis), for the terrifying, real threat to sovereignty they were.

He was the right man, with the right host of skills, at the right time.

Churchill was an outstanding speaker, but he didn't win the war by giving speeches, he did it by getting things done using a whole host of skills which most people don't know about.

Gandhi wrote letters to Hitler and called his friend. He also told him that he admired him and gave him advice on how to deal with the British. He told him that friend was not just a salutation, but he really meant it. He advised the Jews to commit mass suicide.

.....that is no more than "diplomacy 101", he wasn't praising the man for his acts of atrocity, he was simply approaching softly, so as to be heard, and hopefully recieved...ya getta better look if ya climb outta the box.
