I LOVE Van Hagar. Prior to watching and videotaping this special on VH1 in 2002, my father and I already had "OU812" and "Balance". After watching this, I went and got the other 3 albums they did with Hagar; "5150" "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" and "Live: Right Here, Right Now". Since this special, I've enjoyed learning about Sammy's "Cabo Wabo" experience. Thanks gossett2006!

@MrPman851 YW! Awesome stuff - the stuff gives you chills. You HAVE to check out my site. Go to the unreleased and rare stuff, see the open letter to Eddie, review the TOP 50 list.... I am so glad you like them like you do. It creates a mood, awesome music, and this in particular is the best band ever. I mean that. I like others but VH is the soundtrack to life. Get into the DLR years too. It's not chilling as much but it's rock with mean speed, AWESOME too. Hagar is the greatest!

I think it is. Sammy only wrote the lyrics. He didn't write the music. Hell, even EDDIE said that his writing changed and improved when Sammy joined the band because there were no limits yet people still like to blame it all on Sammy.

@TheHockeyCentral Dude, read my open letter to Eddie Van Halen at my site which TY won't let me link! I say the same things in it. I was dictating it at the same time MTV came up with that rubbish open letter and it was so damn ironic the timing. The same exact day I put mine out, they put theirs out. You are exactly right!

5150 is and will always be their best album. Every song is excellent.

@chachee99 Every song from every album they've done is excellent. 5150 is so slick and cool as hell and maybe my favorite too. Ed was changing the music. Sam was not the full reason for the changes. Nothing lags on any VH disc ever. VH3 included. It's all excellent.

@TheHockeyCentral Of course he would say his writing "improved" when Sammy joined. What's he gonna say, his writing got more girly and commercially appealing to those who like softer rock and prom type songs? Paul Stanley says that about every single one of his upcoming KISS albums too. That it's better than anything they've ever done. It's just something artists say (and possibly believe) during that particular time. Time will tell and Roth's period still seems fresh.  Sammy's dates more.

@ableturner Dude Roth has 34 platinum albums and 2 diamond albums with Van Halen and a couple platium without, Hagar has 16, and not that many by himself, thats more than double... Yeah the webpage is down with me too...
