Hitler's Phone Number

To those of you who keep saying "Nein" means "No" in German...

I, as well as most folks watching, are well aware of this fact. This video is an example of what is known as a "homophone joke". A very basic form of joke that every grade school child is familiar with, probably in any language... Some more examples of homophone jokes can be found here: http://iteslj.org/c/jokes-puns.html

The light humor in the joke is compounded by the sight of such a historic figure reciting his 7-digit "phone number" in a cadence that is very familiar to many people living in North America today and around the world.

I artificially added this familiar cadence, as the original clip from the movie has Hitler saying "nein" only six times... So, in order to execute the homophone joke, I used a video editing program to add a seventh "nein".

Now do you understand? I hope so.

They say when you have to explain a joke, you've failed.
