I performed this on Sept. 2, 2009 at a benefit for Stop Child Trafficking Now (sctnow.org). "Isabelle" - one of my favorites to play! - is on my new album, "Second Skin" now available on iTunes and at www.alfa-music.com.
"Isabelle" is dedicated to my homestay mom from Switzerland. More at www.alfa-music.com.
"Isabelle" by Alfa Garcia
Isabelle waits by the window her eyes meet
The sky in the afternoon glow
She sees the sun even before it comes
when the mountains give it away.
Down past the street is a church and a vineyard
When she was a child shed run through.
Now she sits still while I play on piano;
The sun no longer moves.
The years are worn in folds of skin
God take me when he will
Isabelle tell me again
Oh I remember your stories so well.
How could I ever know?
For you the world lived on in echoes
Often Id find her asleep in the garden
The one-eyed cat slept by her feet
Then in a moment shed rise and the old woman watched how the sun
took my hair; shed say
Colors are what make a girl
And this world is so fragile
So hold on for life.
You have the heart of a child and I understood then
That she was mine.
Isabelle tell me again
Oh I remember your stories so well.
How could I ever know?
For you the world lived on in echoes
Here when the sun meets the sky
I can hear your lullabye:
Cherie toujours je taime
pourquoi il ny a rien de toi?
je reste toute seule
la nuit et laube
cest moi sans autre
Edom
jusqu a la fin du monde
Here where the sun meets the sky
thanks! :)
