Emmy Berlind of Green Works by Clorox explains that despite hard economic times, consumers seem willing to pay premium prices for environmentally friendly products. Allison Quaid echoes that sentiment, arguing that people will pay more if they recognize the relevance of sustainable goods in their lives.

The IAA West hosts a panel discussion on how sustainability and innovation are impacting the marketing industry. They address the ways consumers are responding to "green" products and advertising. - International Advertising Association
Emmy Berlind is Marketing Manager for the Green Works line of natural cleaners made by Clorox.
There is different answers regarding to the nature of the "greener": apparently consumers are willing to pay more for products which "greenity" will affect them directly; and support enterprises which have such concerns as well; however, the externalities generated by the same consumer have a different treatment: as for the car they drive, for instance - will they pay more or press the government to accept ethanol from foreign countries in order to emit less GHGs? the evidences point to "no".

Hmmm...why buy more expensive "green" cleaning products. There already exists lemon juice, vinegar, castille soap, baking soda, hot water, borax, etc, etc, etc,
Stuff that is more environmentally friendly, less toxic and the what our great grandma's used to use.
However, those type of products dont generate "revenue" or "profits"....

the fact is that global warming is a farce. temps since the 70 have been decreasing not elevating these are facts you can check them out for your self. trying to tax the hell out of the USA in a real rescission is fucking crazy when global warming isn't a fact. did any one see that it snowed in vegas last year and it snow a lot more then normal in texas this plant goes through cycle. to top this off if you cant get every on to do it there is no point. just like if we disarm are nucks this will

Thinking about the environment is a luxury and I wished more people realized this. The environment takes a backseat when you are barely eking out an existence.
If you want to save the world, first you have to elevate the poor. Not to say that they are more or less at fault, just that global problems require global solutions. An absurd analogy: you don't have time to worry that your house is on fire when you are presently being mauled by a bear.

Actually I'm left wing I'm just a working class man without a university degree and a well paid job and I'll tell you I don't know any working class families who would pay more for green products. This is an upper middle class past time.
The people I know who buy green produce and drive a Prius are journalists, doctors, lawyers and privileged individuals working in nu media.
The rest of us will almost always go for the cheaper option, which actually isn't very cheap if you live in London.

a vegetarian diet is greener and cheaper.
as is cycling/walking more.
the list goes on, while the REAL underprivileged people are dying in Bangladesh and Central Africa from the first-hand effects of climate change.
