In religion Islam it is enough to wash your hands and face with sand/mud whenever water isn't available as in 'purification' indeed to make you ready to pray and dialog with "GOD". In Christianity, "i" had seen in some part of Europe they do mud diving as an annual event indeed, and also it is called 'purification' 'ceremony.
